I'm Back. 1-23-13

In so many ways I've been gone.

I have forgotten about so many of the things that I love.

Like how I love writing and how words can be played with and especially rhymed. I love sitting with a child on a rug and stacking blocks or doing whatever activity they think is utterly amazing. And now having my own children to do this with how many afternoons have I missed out on? I love the beach and how the sand is a free pedicure and the sun warms your heart and the waves lick your toes (sounds kind of gross but that's what it's like to me... and besides, I'm a dog person).

I have tried so hard and for so long to become what and who and how I thought I was supposed to be. The Christian that I thought the Lord would want me to be. Surely He could never really love me the way I was. Messed up. Lowly.

I thought that I believed that the Lord loved me. But clearly I didn't really understand how He could. I still don't fully. But I have a better idea today than I ever had before. And I hope to have a better idea next year than I do today. Grace is amazing. Life is amazing. Today is amazing.

When I started blogging I tried to write the way I like to write. But I was afraid. I was afraid of judgement and of looking foolish or like I was "trying to hard" or of whatever people were going to say or think. Something I thought of and worried about often: what people would say or think.

I have a beautiful family.

I LOVE my little family.

When did my kids start to play together? When did Evan start to follow Aaron around and begin what is sure to be a long journey of wanting to be with, and like, and accepted by, his big brother.

When did my husband get so handsome? When did he start sacrificing so much of what he enjoys to be a good man in this current season of our life together?

We need a beach trip. We need to see some of the beautiful created ocean that is only an hour or so away. Evan needs to play in the sand and Aaron too. And Joey needs to skim. And I just want to watch and smell and be a part of it all. We need a beach trip.

Gobble Till You Wobble!

Thanksgiving day is here. I can smell the delightful dishes that will soon fill our bellies. I am so thankful for the friends, food, and love that we are so blessed with today (and every day really).

This year we are joining the Marquis family for the occasion. There will be many dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free dishes that make it so that Evan can participate along with us all this year (his first Thanksgiving!).

I am so behind on blogging this year. I bet as the kids get older it will get easier to keep up with things of this nature. Either way- just wanted to type a few words to say how thankful I am and post some pictures of the Myer recent happenings. Blessings!

Just Breathe

There has been so much. So much to be thankful for. So much to mourn. So much to process in such a short time. I'm learning what it means to be a mom to two very unique children. I'm learning that all children are very unique. I'm learning that sometimes miracles come with a lot of pain.

My kids are healthy (pretty darn healthy at least!- no salmonella, no croup, no critically low iron), my marriage is good, my friend Brett (who was shot and is having his leg amputated) is alive. There is so much to be thankful for. There is so much to see God's hand in. There is so much grace covering my life and the lives of those around me.

Evan is taking steps now. Aaron is hilarious. Things are wonderful, crazy, hard, fun, exhausting... Wow. I just wanted to get something on here before I close my eyes tonight. Thank you Lord for this crazy life!

Waiting on new life!

Today I'm waiting (well, might be waiting for a week or more!) for my dear friend Rachel to give birth to her second baby. There is something so special about birth. About the fact that no one (but The Lord) knows the day or hour. About the anticipation of meeting a new person and seeing them for the first time. It is truly an amazing miracle. I am so excited for her! I can't stop thinking about her in this short season of waiting. And each time I think of her, I bless her! Lord bless Rachel and her baby and her growing family! Thank you for her in my life! What a blessing!

It's been a long time!

Life is CRAZY! How many of my postings start off with that (or similar statements)? Must be true.

A nutshell recap: Evan is bottle fed, recovering from critically low hemoglobin, crawling, cruising, standing, talking (Mama & Dada), puts everything in his mouth, got salmonella, has two (bottom front) teeth) and is adorable in Aaron's 12-18 month hand-me-down clothing!!
Aaron is a TALKER. So smart. Tonsils out and breathing amazing (silent sleeper now!), eating like he had starving (probably was!), loves the bible, green eggs and ham, Jesus, and says he is black... Don't know where that one came from! He makes me laugh every day and, though he picks on and tries to thump Evan pretty frequently, always needs to know where Evan is and definitely loves his baby. He say he's a big boy, and He's right! I love these little guys.

Joey is amazing (as always). He's hot and I'm so glad I married him. Can't believe it'll be 7 years in December! We are having a really good time being in awe of our boys. He also got a new car! So happy for him (and the fact that a new car for him is something I get to enjoy too of course)!

This year we went to the beach with he Marquis family. Don't remember if I posted photos. We hope to do that yearly.

Lets see... What else. I feel freedom like never before. Hear from The Lord more often than ever. Pray in my prayer language daily. Love teaching ISR lessons (just ended a great season). Am enjoying this season immensely. Am satisfied in The Lord and the family he has provided me with!

On a separate note Rachel is gonna have a baby any day now (SO EXCITING!) and Kreshelle has been out of town for a week! Feeewf. Ok. Time for bed! Hopefully this blogger app will mean more frequent updates!

Blessings!

Easter

We had a beautiful first Easter as a family of four. We decided to skip all the festivity options and just spend our time together for the most part. The boys (Ari and Aaron) had a Resurrection Easter Egg Hunt our yard on Sunday, and we all attended two passovers this year- the Marquis' and the Leightman's. It was such fun! Somewhere in this pile of photos (some of which are upside-down for lack of editing time) is our Miguel too! He is a little boy in Latin America who we are sponsoring. The plan is that someday we'll go visit him and in the mean time the boys can grow up writing letters to him. I also included a shot of Aaron, Joey, me and Lori's feet all adorned with our new bare-foot-shoes! I can't get over how thankful these pictures make me. To have such beautiful healthy boys and to be able to spend my days with them is such a blessing.
